Pottery Siegfried-Burger et Fils

Potiers d'Alsace passionnément

Details

Yes, it is a pottery and not a fast-food restaurant in the USA! Yet some visitors think they can enjoy a "burger" there. The name of this pottery (please pronounce it Bur-gé!) is definitely confusing. The coat of arms represents a tower: "Burg" in German, which could be translated as "Delatour" or "Latour" but certainly not as "American sandwich"! A Texan customer once remarked to the potter that pottery has existed for much longer than the state of Texas...
So they know pottery! The Siegfried-Burger and Sons pottery has been in existence since 1842 and has been run by the same family for 6 generations. Originally, the pottery was called BURGER; then in 1925, Marie Burger married a potter's son named Ernest SIEGFRIED and since then the pottery is called Siegfried-Burger.

The shop is open from Monday to Friday from 8.15am to 12pm and from 1.15pm to 5.30pm; on Saturday from 9.30am to 12pm and from 2pm to 5.30pm. No open house or guided tours. In July and August, guided tours are offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 2:30 pm, by reservation.
