The ornithological observatory in the Forêt d'Exception®.
Details
The ornithological observatory was created in 2011 by the ONF and the town as part of the International Year of the Forest. Located on the site of a former quarry used to extract clay for the manufacture of ceramics, the site was renaturated at the end of the operation. Part of the site, where the clay was extracted underwater, has been maintained as a water body.
Today, this area is ideal for nature observation, with many birds present: herons, moorhens, ducks and, for the most attentive and early risers, kingfishers and great crested grebes...
Reflecting the rich biodiversity of the Forêt d'Exception® de Haguenau, this unique forest setting allows you to take time out and enjoy the spectacle of nature.
