Unaccompanied visit of the Schoenenbourg Fort
Details
As part of the European Heritage Days, come and (re)discover the Schoenenbourg Fort, the largest visitable fort in Alsace. With its 3 kilometres of internal galleries 30 metres below ground, its surface area of over 15,000 square metres and its original equipment, it offers an unprecedented return to the past. The most heavily bombarded fort in France during the 1939-1940 campaign, it stood up to its adversaries, defended its positions with courage and valour and remained undefeated.
Immerse yourself in the daily life of the soldiers of the Maginot Line and discover the underground life of the early days of the Second World War in Alsace. There will also be an unusual tour of the fort at 6:30pm.
