Wahlenheim
Details
Wahlenheim is a small Alsacian town located north of Strasbourg and is part of the Haguenau Urban Community. This municipality is located in the historical and cultural region of Alsace where you can discover the Church dedicated to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Inside, the nave is separated from the choir by a semicircular diaphragm arch. On the walls of the nave, you can find the statues of Saint Teresa of Lisieux, Saint Aloyse, a pretty Sacred Heart of Jesus and Saint Anthony. But the most beautiful attribute of the church is the high altar of the Pieta built in oak and gilded in 1741 in the church of the priory of the "guillemites" of Marienthal, then served by the Jesuits. It was offered in 1781 to the parish of Wahlenheim by Canon Barthle and installed in 1782.
