Details

The building on the left of the pharmacy is the Hôtel du Préteur Royal. This building was built at the end of the 18th century for Jean Philippe Antoine de Cointoux. The latter was the representative of the King of France, responsible for directing the affairs of the city of Haguenau, which had then lost its status as a free city of empire. After the French Revolution and until 1955, it housed the Town Hall; and the Tribunal d'Instance. It is on this square that the city's main events take place, such as the Hop Festival, the humour of the notes and the Christmas market.
