Hochstett
Details
Hochstett is also known, and has been since 2003, for its Day Care for the Elderly: the AJPA. Next to this Welcome Centre, our largest employer, few direct jobs: we can mention a farmer who employs a few seasonal workers to harvest asparagus and endives, an energy-heating design office, a part-time car trade. As with its neighbours in the canton, the village's main vocation has always been agriculture. To date, there are still 4 farmers, including 2 dairy producers. We can also mention the renovation of the small chapel. Until 2005, the Chapel of Hochstett belonged to an old family of the village; since then it has been owned by the Commune. This chapel is located in the valley between the banns of Wittersheim, Mommenheim and Wahlenheim. It can be visited every Sunday from early April to late October, and its history can be consulted on the municipality's website. Since July 2018, in the context of flowered towns and villages, Hochstett has been awarded its first Flower.
