Reinhard Dassler, a contemporary Karlsruhe painter, was commissioned by the patron Nikolaus von Gayling to create an altarpiece for the village's Protestant church. The foot washing (John 13) is the central scene of the triptych in relation to the sacraments of baptism and the Lord's Supper. In a resolutely figurative-realistic style, the event is updated and placed in the world of the 3rd millennium, while referring to representations of the Renaissance.
Visit the interior of the Protestant church in the centre of the town, and see the remarkable triptych altarpiece on the back wall of the choir. In a "contemporary hyper-realistic" style, this work of art, created by Reinhard Dassler, was graciously presented by Baron Nikolaus von Gayling to the parish of Niedermodern in December 2000.
