Schirrhein
Details
Schirrhein, a charming little village located between Oberhoffen-sur-moder and one of the Soufflenheim potters' villages. It is about 10 minutes from Haguenau, and 30 minutes from Strasbourg. In the past, all the houses were built on one side of the main road, the other side being occupied by the forest massif, hence the saying in Alsatian that in Schirrhein "were d'Eierküeche numme uff einere Sitt gebache" (The pancakes are only cooked on one side). The very dynamic village has many associations which alternately animate the streets of the village during the year with various events and festivals.
