The municipality is located in the southwest of the canton of Haguenau (about 10 km from the capital) in the department of Bas-Rhin, Grand Est region. It covers 746 hectares (7.46 km2) with a minimum altitude of 154 meters and a maximum of 237 meters and has 712 inhabitants at the last census. The inhabitants of the commune are called Uhlwillerois and Uhlwilleroises. Some beautiful half-timbered houses, a bread museum nestled on the side of the hill and overlooked by the church of Saint Peter and Paul, make the town of Uhlwiller very attractive. A wonderful view of the Northern Vosges and the nearby forest give an idyllic impression to this place. Niederaltdorf, nestled in the hollow of the valley, forms a pretty annex. Uhlwiller-Niederaltdorf is a beautiful region where it is possible, thanks to its associations, to enjoy many sports and leisure activities such as shooting, football, gymnastics, dialectal theatre, music, recreational afternoons for the youngest, or simply to participate in the various festive events organised throughout the year.
